Both Wintermute\u2019s hot wallet and DeFi vault contract seem to have Profanity vanity addresses.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p id=\"d510\">The hot wallet\u2019s private key was likely exploited and used to drain the vault, which led to the loss of $160 million and upcoming challenge for Wintermute to pay in debt.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p id=\"945d\">Hackless.io notes that the weak security of Profanity-generated addresses had been exposed to the community for some time already.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:quote -->\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p id=\"020e\">Yet looks like it wasn\u2019t taken seriously.
